We’ve launched the second series of our acclaimed podcast with Message Heard, Objeks & Tings, and this season we’re taking listeners on a culinary journey through the rich and diverse flavours of Caribbean cuisine.
Entitled “Objeks & Tings: The Kitchen Table Talk Edition“, each episode will feature a well-known guest who will join us to explore the history and cultural significance of traditional Caribbean dishes and the stories that have been passed down through generations.
And that’s not all! Lynda will also be cooking and serving up the dishes we’re discussing, with a side of fascinating anecdotes. She explained:
“Each Caribbean island cooks and eats different dishes. Some are very similar but others stand alone. Our food is as varied as our people but you tend to only see a handful of our dishes on menus in takeaways, restaurants or even served up in people’s homes. The podcast and accompanying cookbook take you back to explore foods from different Caribbean islands from the time of enslavement. These early first Caribbean recipes, dishes and meals have shaped Caribbean cooking culture today and we want to bring them back into vogue – including the ones that have been forgotten.”
All the dishes cooked in the podcast will be featured in our brand new cookbook “One Dish at a Time – Preserving Caribbean Culinary Culture” – coming soon.
This series of the podcast was made possible by a grant awarded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund to save, protect and share Caribbean culinary culture – with thanks to National Lottery Players.
